21st CCLC Grant

21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC)
Woodburn After School Club (WASC) – 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC)
The Woodburn After School Club (WASC) is proud to be a recipient of the 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) grant, a federally funded program through Title IV, Part B and the Oregon Department of Education. This competitive five-year grant (2023–2028) provides funding to support after-school programs across the Woodburn School District, including four elementary schools, two middle schools, and one high school.
Our Vision
WASC is committed to meeting student, family, and community needs by supporting academic, social, and personal development in a safe and welcoming environment. With the support of the 21st CCLC grant, we are able to extend learning beyond the school day, create meaningful enrichment opportunities, and strengthen family engagement.
Programs and Opportunities
-
Elementary & Middle Schools: Bilingual reading/literacy and math enrichment, STEM activities, Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), and career exploration. Middle school programs also focus on executive functioning skills essential for secondary school success.
-
High School: Post-secondary readiness through advising, advocacy, off-site career exploration, job shadowing, internships, and volunteer opportunities to build career skills.
-
All Programs: Enrichment clubs driven by student interests, SEL instruction, and prosocial activities that encourage positive peer relationships. Meals are provided at program sites, and family events are hosted to strengthen school-community connections.
Our Focus
WASC prioritizes serving the district’s most vulnerable students, including McKinney-Vento, and families in crisis. Staff receive professional development in Positive Behavior Intervention Systems (PBIS), trauma-informed practices, and social-emotional wellness to ensure all students feel supported. Site Leads also coordinate with school-based and community partners and dedicate time to student and family outreach.
Our Goal
The goal of the 21st CCLC program in Woodburn is to increase academic achievement, engage students in meaningful and diverse activities, and ensure families feel supported and connected.
