Msg from Superintendent: Thank you participating in phone-call survey

January 28, 2021

Dear Woodburn School Community:
Thank you to all families who recently participated in our one-on-one phone calls. This process has helped inform us as to how you would prefer your child be instructed for the remainder of the 20-21 school year. We are working diligently to refine plans that will ensure we continue to meet your students’ needs. Our commitment to getting students back in our schools in a safe and healthy way has not wavered.

In an effort to provide more in-person learning opportunities, as requested by many of our parents, we will be increasing our Limited In-Person Instruction (LIPI) opportunities at all levels, while continuing to refine our plans for Hybrid Instruction. This will allow for staff to have the opportunity to get vaccinated, if they choose, and ensure our health and safety procedures are operating as we have intended in order to keep staff and students safe. Following ODE recommendations, we are working on a staggered schedule that prioritizes bringing back elementary students first. Students in either model will be provided synchronous/face-to-face (either on-site or through Zoom) and asynchronous learning (lessons developed by teachers and done independently) throughout the week. See below for a draft of a schedule.

As you can see, this schedule accounts for students engaged in both Hybrid and CDL instructional models. Regardless of the instructional model, your child participates in, to the extent possible, their instructor will remain the same. Health and safety measures will be used during on-site instruction, including but not limited to: face masks, social distancing, stable cohorts (groups of students), and daily health screenings.

As indicated in the recent survey and other community messages, families will still have the opportunity to continue with a CDL only option through the remainder of the year. If you would like to change the instructional model you selected, please contact the office of your child’s school by February 12th, 2021.

Although we continue to plan and dates are fluid, we are targeting March 2021 for the beginning of Hybrid instruction. There are many variables that may impact this start date and we will continue to communicate any changes that may alter this anticipated start date.

We value your partnership in helping deliver the best educational opportunities we possibly can during these difficult times. Please stay safe, wash your hands, and maintain the efforts of social distancing to help us reduce the spread of COVID and get our students back to school as soon as possible.
