Retirements, promotions and transfers are the reasons behind a few administrative changes for the Woodburn School District. These changes will take effect in the fall for the 2019-2020 School Year.
Greg Baisch is retiring, and Claudia Kis will serve as Associate Principal at Heritage Elementary School. She most recently served as Assistant Principal for Washington Elementary School.
Teresa Alfaro will replace Kis as Assistant Principal for Washington Elementary. Alfaro currently serves as Assistant Principal at Heritage Elementary. The Assistant Principal position at Heritage remains open at this time.
There also are two new hires this fall. Nuvia Nevarez is the new Assistant Principal at Nellie Muir Elementary School. Nevarez started her teaching career in Phoenix, AZ before returning home to Woodburn to teach at French Prairie Middle School and serve as Dean of Students at Nellie Muir Elementary.
Maricruz Acuña-DeMaagd is the new Assistant Principal at Lincoln Elementary School. Acuña-DeMaagd started her career in Texas. Her previous education experience includes nine years as an elementary and middle school teacher, and an instructional mentor.
“Administrative changes occur every year. It helps staff gain experience to better serve our students and community,” said Superintendent Chuck Ransom.
