The Woodburn School Board appointed Noemi Legaspi to fill the vacant seat on its board on Thursday, December 6. Her term runs until June 2019. The seat will be up for election by the community on the ballot in May next year.
Legaspi is a parent of an elementary student, a business owner, an adjunct instructor and academic adviser in Woodburn. As a mental health clinician, she hopes to use her professional experience to be a problem-solver and serve as liaison between the Board and the families it serves.
Additionally, the School Board has appointed four new members to committees. Thor Waage and Chris Lassen will serve on the Bond Advisory and Accountability Committee. The term lasts until all bond-funded projects are complete. John Rivas and Christopher Branger will each serve a three-year term (through June 2021) on the Budget Committee.
WSD welcomes these public servants and thanks them for their dedication and service to its students.
