The Woodburn School District announced administrative positions for the 2018-2019 school year. These changes are to fill positions of those administrators retiring and part of an ongoing effort to improve staff development and student outcomes.
At the District Office, Dana Christie will serve as Director of Student Services. Ms. Christie was the Special Education Coordinator for the District from 2016-2018. She served as a Special Education Coach and New Teacher Mentor from 2014-2016, and a Middle School Learning Specialist from 2010-2014.
Ethan Tiffany will replace Ms. Christie as the Special Education Coordinator. He served as a Behavior Specialist with the Estacada School District from 2017-2018. From 2011-2017, Mr. Tiffany was with the Clackamas Education Service District as a Therapeutic School Teacher and then Supervisor of Therapeutic Schools.
Sarah Bishop joins the District as its Director of Business. Ms. Bishop started her career as Assistant Finance Director for the city of Lebanon from 2011-2016. Most recently, she served as Business Manager for the Jefferson School District.
Stephan Price will return to the Woodburn School District to serve as Instructional Services Program Coordinator. Mr. Price was a teacher and then District Outreach Coordinator for Woodburn schools from 2004-2017. From 2017-2018, he gained experience as an assistant principal for the Multnomah Education Service District.
Rick Vasquez is the new District Communications and Community Outreach Coordinator to provide improved communication with parents and the community. Mr. Vasquez started his career as Director of Public and Media Relations for Sul Ross State University (2002-2007). He was the Multi-Media Editor for Stars and Stripes in Washington, DC from 2007-2016. He returned to Oregon in 2016 and worked with the Oregon Association of Realtors in a similar capacity from 2016-2017.
In the district schools, Sarah Bautista is the new Principal of Lincoln Elementary School. Ms. Bautista also served in Woodburn schools from 2007-2012 in various capacities, most recently as an assistant principal. She left Woodburn to serve as a principal of an elementary school in Tualatin and again, as a principal in California.
Nellie Muir Elementary School will welcome Oscar Belanger as its new principal. Mr. Belanger last served as the Assistant Principal at Nellie Muir.
Mateo Courtney also will assume the role of Principal at French Prairie Middle School after serving as its Assistant Principal, as well. Replacing Mr. Courtney as Assistant Principal is Jessica Ramirez, who came from the Estacada School District as its English Language Coordinator and Math Specialist. Ms. Ramirez has extensive teaching experience in the Multnomah, Intermountain, Reynolds and Estacada School Districts.
Valor Middle School will welcome Jeff Taylor as its new Principal. Mr. Taylor came from Nellie Muir, where he served as Principal. Prior to that, he served as the Assistant Principal at French Prairie Middle School.
The Woodburn Academy of Art, Science and Technology will have Ricardo Marquez as its Principal. Mr. Marquez started his administrative career here in Woodburn as an Assistant Principal at Heritage Elementary. Most recently he served as the Principal of French Prairie.
