The Woodburn School District is asking community members to take time to provide input into its Strategic Plan Update. The Strategic Plan guides the school district’s decision-making process, and is credited, in part, for the high graduation rate of Woodburn students which are almost 10 percent higher than the state average, and even higher for disadvantaged student populations.
Community members are invited to attend one of several meetings at 1390 Meridian Drive in Woodburn:
• Monday, November 13 – 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. or 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
• Tuesday, November 14 – 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
• Tuesday, November 14 – 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (Russian interpreter services provided)
• Tuesday, November 14 – 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (Spanish interpreter services provided)
Participants will be briefed on the purpose of the Strategic Plan, changes since the last update, and asked for input to strengthen the district’s strategic direction to support student achievement. This input will help shape revisions to the school district’s mission, vision and values statements. The Strategic Plan identifies specific goals, actions and steps to achieve excellence for all students entrusted to the school district.
Every five years, the Woodburn School District updates its Strategic Plan. The purpose of this exercise is to develop a common vision along with goals and objectives to provide a strategic direction for the district. Accountability is a priority for the school district. The Strategic Plan establishes meaningful measures to track and manage the district’s progress over the next five years. It also identifies how the school district will communicate to keep all stakeholders informed about how the district progresses.
The revised Strategic Plan will take effect July 1, 2018, and lasts for five years.
The Woodburn School District provides a world class education to approximately 5,700 students in grades K-12 across four elementary, two middle and five small high schools. Its student body is one of the most culturally and economically diverse in the state. The District supports social justice by providing equitable outcomes for all students. Woodburn students achieve academically and professionally because of this equity lens.
